Another Snow Day

I can't believe that we have another snow day, where is global warming when you need it?  These poor school kids and my husband will be going to school in July if this keeps up.

So I have stamped a little more and I am still hooked on the beautiful Raspberry Tart Paper.  These cards are very simple, it's the fold that makes them look special.
Pocket Silhouettes is a favorite set of mine.  It looks good as a monochromatic silhouette or as a colored in image.  I used SU! Marvelous Markers to "color" in the stamps, gave it a little huff and stamped.

And now for the winners of the Mystery Hostess, drum roll please....
Nancy B won the Hostess Level One set, she picked God's Beauty.
Kaylee B won the $10 in free SU! merchandise and she picked the Fleurettes on page 177.  Go take a look if you don't know what I am talking about!
Barb N won the $5 in free SU! merchandise and she picked Chocolate Chip card stock.
Enjoy your winnings ladies.

Snow, ice and more snow

Well today I got my wish... SNOW!!  I love snow and I was so excited it was coming I woke up twice last night to look out the window.  Now however is a different story, ice.  Ice I do not like at all.  But then later tonight we get more SNOW!  So what's a girl to do but stamp.  Jean showed me how to make origami boxes when she was over the other day and I made one that Bert said I stamped up!  I started with my DSP measuring 8 1/2" x 8 1/2".  Then it's a matter of folding and embellishing and there you have it an adorable box.

I also had an order placed to make 10 different Valentine cards so I got started on those, here is the first one.  It is a gate fold card, I really like how it turned out.  I used the new DSP Raspberry Tart and I already know I am going to need to order another package or two of this one.

A day stampin' with a friend is a great day indeed!

Jean came over and we stamped and laughed and had a great time.  We wanted to work on Valentine cards and I managed to make one using the Love You Much bundle.  I think it turned out pretty cute and it's the first square card I have made in a long long time.  Did you know if you mail a square card in a square envelope it will cost you more money?  I hear even Hallmark puts their square cards in rectangular envelopes.  Next time we all get together for a stamp camp I will show you how to make a square card fit in a rectangular envelope.  Sorry for the cruddy picture maybe some day I will win the lottery and get a good camera, course I have to actually play the lottery...

Need one more stamper!!!

So far I have had two stampers contact me about the Mystery Hostess drawing.  I need one more person who wants to spend at least $50 and be entered in the drawing.  One name will be drawn to get the Hostess Level One set, one name will be drawn for $10 in free merchandise and one name for $5 in free merchandise.  After the next person joins this drawing I will be glad to start a new one and continue to do so until January 27th.  Call or email me today to join in.

And speaking of joining in...

Announcing the new Stampers Club.  We will meet the third Tuesday of the month at my house and learn a new technique each month.  Each member will take turns being the Hostess and will be the recipient of the Hostess Benefits for that meeting.  We hope to get either 5 members who will spend $30 a meeting or 6 members who will spend $25 a meeting.  This is a nice way to learn new techniques and slowly build your stamping supplies and of course have a night out stamping.  First come, first serve so don't delay call or email today.

Inauguration Day

Today is an important day in US history, put your own personal politics aside, we watched history being made today and I couldn't be more proud to be a part of the United States.  So I did what I love to do and I made a card to commemorate the day.  I will send this card to a solider over in Iran who is from New Richmond.  The base is More Mustard and I used Stampin' Up!'s watercolor paper for the main image.  It really makes a difference when coloring in with Stampin' Up!'s exclusive markers.

Under the Stars

I saw this adorable bear at Convention this summer and I knew immediately I had to have this set.  I was inspired to have him balance hearts after seeing a card on the Stampin' Up demo site.  Actually he was balancing sleeping bags so I tried that too and then while I was at it I tried having him balance s'mores.  The background paper is Juntos from the Spanish catalog.

Valentine Class

Also this past weekend we had our Valentine Class and if you didn't attend here is what you missed...

She said YES!

My oldest nephew Brad asked Meg to marry him last night and had us all share in his joy by surprising her at a place downtown.  What a night!!!  I made them a card to go with their engagement gift.  Strange thing is the ring is embossed in silver but it keeps showing up in gold, go figure.

I used a Stampin' Up Note Card and made a mask by punching out the center of a scrap piece of paper using the Wide Oval Punch. Stamped the ring from the NEW Hostess Set, Goody Goody Gumdrops in the center and using my Versamarker colored in the ring and embossed.  I masked the diamond part and sponged the oval in Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze.  When that looked good I used my 2 Way Glue Pen and put Dazzling Diamond on the diamond itself.  Very pretty in person and you can even see a bit of it's bling captured in the photo.  All in all I was very pleased with the results, but not as happy as I am to have Meg join our family.

Spring Song

Just a quick post tonight.  I love this little bird from Spring Song, he looks like he needs an attitude adjustment.  I stamped him in Chocolate Chip on Whisper White then I used the distressing tool and ran it around the edge.  Matted on Basic Black and then Kraft.  Stamped  Bella Toile in Always Artichoke on Always Artichoke.  Very easy.

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is the last day to RSVP for the Valentine Card Class on Saturday, January 10th at 7:00.  Stamp two cards for $5 and I am including a Valentine stampin' surprise.

Blog Vodoo

It happened again, every time I start a blog something bad happens.  Last time I broke my ankle and then had a downward spiral with blood clots etc.  This time it was my DD, she ended up in the ICU and got out of the hospital Christmas Day at noon.  For a serious procrastinator like me I couldn't afford any unexpected surprises.  Still don't have out my Christmas cards but I AM sending them out, I worked hard on these cards and so what if I'm a week or two late.
