Moving on to Christmas

I am moving on to Christmas card making, seemingly skipping Halloween and my favorite holiday Thanksgiving.  Just had to try my hand at using the new embossing folder from the Holiday Mini.  If you haven't gotten yours in the mail yet let me know and I will get one out to you.

Still time to buy the Reason to Smile set for only $5.  I have a few cards left to choose from, buy the stamp set from me and choose one of the cards I have shown on this blog starting the beginning of July.

What Barb N and I did yesterday

Barb is a dear friend of mine and was asked to make a banner for her granddaughter's party.  Emma got a full ride scholarship to Purdue and we wanted to make a name one for Emma and one for Purdue.  Most of what we used was SU! but Barb had some stuff she picked up here and there and we used some of that too.

The banner itself is made up of the Dresden Designs Bigz Die and on the Purdue banner we stamped the graduation cap from Go Graduate.  The letters are from the new Big Shot Die Alphabet whose name escapes me at the moment that Barb got FREE as she was the Hostess at the last Technique Club.  I love free stuff!   We also used one of the doilies from the Pennant Parade Big Shot Die.   Barb made the original banner at a free class she attended at the library, what a great idea.

Reason to Smile in the dark

Yesterday thunderstorms blew thru and knocked out our power just as I was working on this card.  I wanted to make another card with a piece I had leftover from a previous card that everyone loved.  I grabbed my trusty lantern to finish working on the card and the batteries had corroded.  So being the Pioneer kind of girl I am I got out the vinegar and cleaned off the battery terminals.  Did the last little bit with my Stampin' Sanding Block!   Then I heard a plop, plop, plop.  Yep, Captain, we were taking on water.  We need to recaulk the roof line where it meets up with the logs and water was coming in right and left.  Off to go find the old towels.  Finally I got back to the card which I finished up with a flashlight and the lantern.  What fun.

This card uses the Naturals Composition DSP which is so gorgeous, can you see the embossing on the first layer?  The DSP comes that way.  Today we are having storms already and more to come this afternoon but I promise, neither rain nor hail, nor dead of night will keep me from showing you my last card made with a Reason To Smile Stamp Set tomorrow.

You can order this stamp set for only $5 with a $50 order so contact me today.  Order from me and you can take home one of these cards I have been showing too!

Quick Smile

Today has to be a very quick post.  Another card inspired by Mary Fish.  She is so true to her style, now if I could just find a style.

Happy Reason to Smile

This card was inspired by Mary Fish, she has such a clean style that I often can't find in my own stamping.  I have a hard time stopping I always want to add just one more layer or some ribbon or something.  I love how happy this card turned out using Tangerine Tango, Rich Razzleberry and Floral District DSP.  It also has one of my favorite embellishments, an Antique Brad, the white one looks fantastic in the center of the flower.

Once again, this can be your card with your purchase of the Reason to Smile Stamp Set.  $5 in Clear or Wood Mount with a $50 purchase, contact me today to get yours.

And I have to show you this photo.  We have 6 chickens who now have full access to the yard but seem to like the covered front porch in this heat.  I was outside taking photos of this card and they came around the corner talking to me and while they went about their chicken business I snapped this photo. They are looking in the front window to see what we are all up to.  Kind of reminds me of the Muppet Show, you know the part where the chickens would just randomly appear on the screen.  That's what it looks like when you sitting in the house and chicken heads suddenly appear in the window.  Drives Miss Scarlet, the Jack Russell Wannabe, nuts.

This card is inspired by a card I saw on the website SU! has for it's demonstrators.   Mine uses different Famelits but most of the rest of it is copied from another demo.  I can not find the original card to see who made it to give credit where credit is due so if this is your card please let me know and I will give you credit for such a beautiful creation.

I love the color combo of Whisper White, Basic Gray and Daffodil Delight and the Fan Fair Embossing Folder really adds some great texture to this card.  The sentiment, stamped in Basic Gray is from the set Trust God.

This card and any of the others shown made with this same set can be yours to copy to your heart's content with purchase of the Reason to Smile Stamp Set from me during the month of July.  This is the last week I will be posting cards made with this set but the Stamp Set is available for the entire month.  Contact me today to get your Reason to Smile Stamp Set for only $5 in clear mount or wood mount.

Split Negative Reason to Smile

I love this line art stem but I don't really have the talent to watercolor and have it look the way I want so I am always trying to come up with ideas that doesn't involve watercoloring.  So on a Primrose Petal cardstock base I split black and white cardstock and embossed the opposite colors on each piece.  I love the Black and White Polka Dot Ribbon and think it added the perfect balancing touch. What do you think?

A Christmas Reason to Smile

How about a Christmas card using the Reason to Smile Stamp Set?  You can own this versatile set for only $5 in Clear Mount or Wood Mount with an additional $50 purchase.  Plus order from me and you will receive one of the cards I have made with this set.  First come, first served.

Today's card uses the stamp that goes with the line flower image stamped in Gumball Green as the wreath and the pearls are mod-podged and then colored with markers in Raspberry Ripple.  The saying is from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set.  I love the new InColors especially the Gumball Green.  I layered with Real Red and put it on a Crumb Cake base.  I tied a faux bow with Real Red 1/8" Real Red Taffeta Ribbon, it's the perfect size.

Contact me today to get this wonderful stamp set at such a wonderful price.

Reason to Smile Acid Trip

This card came about as I was watching one of my favorite TV shows Ghost Adventures.  They were in a small town in Arizona that is very, very eclectic and Zac said it reminded him of an acid trip.  When he said that they showed weird colors and some stained glass and that is when it hit me.

I stamped up the flower in Versamark and stamped on Vellum and embossed in black.  You have to be very careful embossing on vellum as it will scorch.  I colored with the markers on the front and the back of the image to deepen the colors.  The front of the card is punched out with the Blossom Punch and the stained glass piece is sandwiched between that and Whisper White insert.  This make the inside of the card have a WW inside so it is easily stamped on.

Here is a close up of the stained glass flower.

Can you tell I am still using the Reason to Smile Stamp Set?   I used the stamp intended for the center of the flower and made a border of polka dots.  Turn out cute, don't you think?   I had this idea while driving and I was so afraid it would leave my little pea brain before I got home and put it to paper.  Purchase the Reason to Smile Stamp set and you could take this card home and copy it to your heart's content!   Reason to Smile is only available in July and with a $50 order you can buy this set in Clear Mount or Wood Mount what a deal.

Reason to Smile Watercolor

Today I tried my hand at watercoloring with the Aquapainter.  I took a piece of Stampin' Up! watercolor paper and cut it down to about 2" by 3" and with Marina Mist, More Mustard and Lucky Limeade I just washed color across with a moist Aquapainter.  Hit it with the Heat Gun and then shaped the image from the Reason to Smile Stamp Set in Early Espresso.  Early Espresso is NOT waterproof so any additional color put on has to be done with care.  I added some deeper color in More Mustard on the flower and a little Early Espresso and a little Lucky Limeade.  .  Did a little paper piercing with the NEW paper piercer which fits in your hand so nicely.  Added my favorite embellishment an Antique Brad and a little Marina Mist ribbon and put it all on a Pool Party base.  I think it turned out pretty nice.

Thursday, July 5, 2012

This card seems to be the favorite among the stampers at my last class.  One of them even tried to hide it from the others.  All of them will be ordering the Reason to Smile and picking a card from those I have made with this set.  Buy the Reason to Smile by the third week in July and you will get to pick which card you would like to take home.  First come, first served so get your order in today.

This has an Early Espresso Base with a layer in More Mustard that was run thru the Big Shot with the Fan Fair Embossing Folder which gives it a beautiful texture.  The focal image is stamped in Early Espresso and over-stamped in So Saffron.  I colored in the inside with Pumpkin Pie and then stamped with the smallest stamp in the set in Early Espresso.  I used the Color Spritzer with an Early Espresso marker to add a little vintage look and then spritzed with Champagne Shimmer Paint and a little rubbing alcohol mixture.  Click on the photo to see it bigger and you can notice the shimmer, so pretty.

Today I was inspired by a card I saw on Stampin' Connection, a website just for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators.  The website is a great perk of being a demo, chockfull of great ideas.  So I know that the Framelits Label Collection is only supposed to cut thru one layer at a time but I wanted to make a card using the shape as a base so I decided to give it a try.  Now I do not recommend you try this at home but I folded my Marina Mist base and put the top of the Framelit just inside of the fold and ran it thru my beloved Big Shot.  It worked!   Ran a couple of more layers thru and stamped my image from the Reason to Smile Stamp Set made a bow for the top and here you have it.

Don't forget buy the Reason to Smile Stamp Set from me which is only available this month and you might get this card sent to you.

Still Smiling

Another card using the Reason to Smile stamp set and this one is so cute and just happy.  I used the smallest flower image with the Two Step Stampin' Technique.  I just eyeballed it and I am happy how it turned out.  The sentiment is from Perfectly Penned and I love that font, it makes a perfectly sized addition to the front.  The colors used on this card are Pool Party base, with flowers stamped in Basic Black and then over-stamped in Calypso Coral, Wondering Wisteria and Lucky Limeade all from last year's InColors.  We only have this year to use these colors before they retire in June of 2013.  I love all of the colors in this collection and the Designer Printed Brads that match, I used the Island Indigo brads on this card.  This card will also be up for grabs if you purchase $50 plus the Reason to Smile Stamp Set this month.  At the end of the month I will be picking names and letting those people pick the card they would like to receive.

Reason to Smile

I love Daffodil Delight and Basic Gray together.  It is hard to tell in the photo but the Whisper White layer is all one piece it has a faux layer effect to it.  It also has a punched out not quite complete circle with a Tempting Turquoise button attached.  I masked the flowers so they look like they are coming from under the faux label and sit on top of each other.

You have a chance to receive this card and any others I show on this blog using this stamp set, Reason to Smile.   Place a $50 order  and purchase this stamp set with me as your demonstrator in person, via email or online and I will select names to pick the card they want at the end of the month.  If you have any ordering questions just ask.
