Hostess Sets

I was cleaning up a shelf of stamp sets that my cat helped me clear off by trying to sit on the shelf and the Hostess Level One set Punch Potpourri came out on top. I saw a card made with this set and thought I should give it a go. First off let me say I looked and looked for the blog that inspired this card but could not find it again. If this is a CASE of your card or you know who made a card like this please let me know and I will give credit where credit is due
On to the card. I stamp the triple flower image twice each in Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. These images fit perfectly in the Boho Blossoms Punch and after a couple of punches all of my flowers were cut out. I adhered them onto the Crumb Cake layer and then ran the whole thing thru the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. This layer is wrapped in Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon which is the most beautiful ribbon out there. Put the layer on the Cherry Cobbler base added the sentiment.

I then added a white layer on the inside. I think adding a layer to the inside of a dark cardstock base really adds something special to a one of a kind card.

Lovin' the Spider Web

I love the new Embossing Folder in the Holiday Mini, Spider Web. For this card I used White Staz On and laid down a little color directly onto the Embossing Folder. Put a piece of Elegant Eggplant inside and sent it on thru my favorite tool, the Big Shot. The White Staz On inked the paper at the same time the folder embossed it. So easy and so spooky looking. And yes, the Staz On came off the folder I just used a little Staz On Cleaner and it is as good as new.

Don't forget about the wonderful giveaway from SU! Sign up to be a demonstrator and SU! will send you this beautiful Greenhouse Gala Tote. Mine comes tomorrow, so contact me and come over and see it in person and maybe stay and stamp a bit!

Holiday Mini goes Halloween

I don't really do Halloween but when I saw the new Embossing Folder in the Holiday Mini I knew I would have to have this to make treats. In the Mini they show embossed napkins and I can't wait to try that for my Girl Scout Troop. They love to use the Big Shot and will enjoy embossing their own napkins with a spider web. Be sure and look at the Spider Web Embossing Folder, $7.95 and the adorable Mini Lunch Sacks, $4.95 both of which I used in this project. The Designer Series Paper strip is from Love Notes, quickly becoming my go to paper lately.

Last Call for the Summer Mini

It is last call for the Summer Mini, don't let a stamp set slip away and then be mad at yourself later on when you decide you really needed that set! Here is one more card using the Motorcycle Stamp, $8.95. I have an order going in tomorrow if you would like to try and save a little on S&H. Just call or email.

For this card I used Cherry Cobbler for the base and a piece of Basic Gray which I ran thru the Big Shot using the Texturz Plates on page 215. Don't forget to use the Impressions Pad and the Silicone Rubber to make the detail of these plates really come thru.

The motorcycle image is colored in with the Cherry Cobbler Marker and then covered in Crystal Effects. Looks like a real high gloss paint job in person.

Summer Mini coming to an end

The Summer Mini is coming to an end and I just had to post one more card using a set from the mini. Watercolor Trio is a beautiful set and perfect for the technique Emboss Resist, I am placing an order Saturday morning so if there is something you need just email or call and I will be glad to put in your order. If you don't have a Summer Mini handy just click on the link on the right hand side of this blog.

The colors of this card are Marina Mist and Pear Pizzaz. The background paper is from the
In Colors DSP pack, such a fun pack of papers. I also used Marina Mist Satin Ribbon with a little stripe of the same DSP on top. Stamped the image in Versamark and embossed with SU! Clear Embossing Powder. Sponged Marina Mist ink on top and the image just pops thru.

Enjoy your day, it is beautiful outside and a perfect day to stamp with the windows open.

Got Birthday?

Here is another card using the stamp set Got Treats? I used Crumb Cake and Regal Rose both cardstock and markers. Made the rick rack with the Scallop Edge Punch, so easy, start at one mark on the punch, punch all the way to the end, flip your strip of cardstock and start at the next mark and it will make adorable rick rack. Not enough detail for you ? Call or email and I will try and explain it better.

Tomorrow night at 6:30 is Stampin' at the Bookstore see Friday's post for more details on what the special is for that night. If you are attending you need to RSVP today and bring the following... one sheet of Tangerine Tango or other orange CS, one sheet of Old Olive or other green CS, half sheet of Whisper White and sticky strip or other very strong adhesive and a brad. Got Treats?

As soon as I saw the stamp set Got Treats, I knew that would be a set I had to have in my hot little hands as soon as possible. While pondering what to do at Stampin' at the Bookstore next Tuesday I came up with this adorable mini milk carton box. I used the Big Shot and the Mini Milk Carton Die and Tangerine Tango card stock. The boxes are a snap to put together and fun to decorate. The Got Treats Stamp set gives you at least 6 different options to decorate the Mini Milk Carton Box as well as making cards and scrapbook pages. Come back tomorrow for a special offer on the Got Treats Stamp set and the Mini Milk Carton Die for the Big Shot.

More Hillbilly stuff

The family reunion is fast approaching and I wanted to come up with a little stampin' treat for the ladies to make. If any of the men want to make one that is fine with me too. I found this adorable box on Lyssa Z's blog way back and it is so easy to make that this was the perfect thing to do at the reunion. I took a 7x9 piece of card stock in Crumb Craft, scored at 2 inches and 3 inches on the short side and 1 and 2 inches on the long side. Crease and cut away excesses, so easy you can figure it out. Stamped with my favorite Woodgrain Background stamp in Soft Suede and assembled with Sticky Strip. I used a 8 inch by 1 inch piece of card stock and punched it with the Dotted Scallop Scallop Ribbon Border to make a piece to hold it shut. Stamped the S'More stamp from Under the Stars in Soft Suede, ran my Aquapainter over the graham cracker part, picked up a little more Soft Suede to color in the chocolate and put a little toasted part on the marshmallow. Layered that on a Scallop Circle punched out of Designer Series Paper and there you have an adorable box. I took the Small Flat Cello Bags and filled them with Golden Grahams, Cocoa Puffs and mini marshmallows tied the top with some hemp and it is so cute in person I can hardly stand it.

Last Month for the Summer Mini

Summer is flying by and so is the opportunity to buy from the Summer Mini. The first time I saw the Motorcycle stamp in the mini I knew I needed this stamp for my masculine card making needs . So what do I make with it? A pink, glittery motorcycle. If I do say so myself it is very cute and very sparkly in person. I stamped the motorcycle in Staz On black and colored in parts with the Pretty in Pink marker. Next I went over the pink parts with my Two Way Glue Pen and used Dazzling Diamonds. Presto, a very sparkly motorcycle, I also used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder on Whisper White. For $7.95 these embossing folders sure make a huge impact on the look of a card. Don't let this month pass you by without getting your motorcycle !

Look what I got

Today starts the pre order period for demonstrators to order from the Holiday Mini. We got our copy about a week ago and I have been drooling over it since then. Yep, fabric that matches new Designer Series Paper and buttons and seam binding in the Holiday Mini. If you want to take a peek at the new Holiday Mini come on over.

It's always something

I have spent the last couple of days trying my best to figure several things out on this blog. Seems my background disappeared and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. All it took was to ask the kid what I was doing wrong and without even looking at it he told me how to take care of the problem. Problem solved, sure wish I had all of that computer stuff in my pea brain.

Stampin' Up! is having their annual convention in beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah and oh how I wish I was there. I am hearing about lots of promotions and the such coming up and can't wait till this info is shared with all of the demos so I can share it with you.

One thing I would like to share today is the Stampin' Up! opportunity. SU! is the perfect part time job for busy people or a full time job for those real go getters. Don't want to make it a business but would love to get your Stampin' Up! fix with a discount? Then become a Hobby Demonstrator. Right now is the perfect time to join my team, call or email me today.

Hillbilly Reunion part 2

Ok, how about this one for the women? The ever talented Becky Roberts has a tutorial for sale on her blog and I just had to buy it. I love her work. Of course I didn't follow the directions exactly because I am just not a direction follower, I'm more of an estimator. I love this little bag, reminds me of my Grandma's purses. The Woodgrain Background was used again and it is so cute in person.

Hillbilly Reunion

It is our turn to host the Allen Family Reunion and of course I volunteered to be in charge of the table settings. This what I came up with for the utensil and napkin holder. I used the now retired Close to Cocoa and the Pillow Box die and my beloved Big Shot. I have to use a pretty thick shim under this die to make it work correctly. I then stamped with the Woodgrain Background stamp in Chocolate Chip and used the 1 inch punch to cut out the hole. Stamped the owl put him on the inside, cut off the top flaps and assembled. Only 39 more to go.

Mini Milk Cartons, part 2

The Big Shot Mini Milk Carton Die is so easy to use that once you start making them you can not stop. Besides that I wanted to stamp the "To Open" part of the Got Treats stamp set. This carrier is a little taller than the last but they are so easy to make and change the height to fit whatever size suits your fancy.

Thursday, July 15, 2010

Milk Carton Die

I love my Big Shot and was thrilled when my last order earned me the opportunity to get the Mini Milk Carton Die absolutely free. I love free stuff!!! I wanted to make clear milk cartons from the moment I laid eyes on this die in the catalog. So today I made clear cartons and filled them with my favorite candy, M&M's with peanuts! I figure M&M's with peanuts are good for you since you get a bit of protein with every one.

Did you spy the "ribbon" around the carton? That is the new Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch, now you can make ribbons out of any cardstock or Designer Series Paper. The possibilities are endless. The stamp set used on the front of the carton carrier is Got Treats. An adorable stamp set that covers every occasion you could want.

Two more 3 x 3 cards

Here is the rest of the 3 x 3 set of cards I made using the Cheers stamp set. I am bound and determined to use up some of my paper stash and Stampin' Up! makes it so easy to match ink colors to paper colors to just plain fun.

Stampin' at the Bookstore is coming up on the 27th and this month is going to be a Scavenger Hunt. All participants are asked to bring their own kit of supplies; paper cutter, adhesive, scissors, favorite coloring tools etc. Then each participant will also bring 3 or more colors of card stock, brads or a yard or so of ribbon, an ink pad or two and your current favorite Stampin' Up! stamp set. Bring these supplies in a shoebox sized container and we will all share and see what we come up with. Bringing your supplies in a box will insure that you can take your leftovers back home. We will be voting on our favorite at the end of the night and a small prize will be awarded. Sound like fun? Let me know and I will send you more details, we would love to have you join us.

Mini cards, but big fun

I sell cards down at Passage Bookstore in New Richmond, a really nice bookstore down by the mighty Ohio River. There is a skinny spinning rack in the middle of two larger spinning racks and it was just screaming for some 3 x 3 mini cards. I love to make this size cards and I love the little envelopes that Stampin' Up! sells for them, just perfect.

I used the Cheers stamp set and all of the cards have Crystal Effects on top of the drink part of each stamp. Looks really cute in real life.

Just a quickie answer to a question posted in yesterday's comments. The music paper on the Greeting Cards Kids is by Stampin' Up! and is called Newsprint. Every piece in this pack is better than the last. Thanks for your comments, I really love reading them.

Greeting Card Kids

Greeting Card Kids was a set I knew the moment I laid eyes on it in the new catalog that I would have to find a place for it in my Stampin' Sanctuary. Today after a little prodding from my friend Jean I sat down and made this card. It took me about 15 minutes and I even watercolored. Watercoloring scares me for some strange reason and this was my first try in a long, long time. I used an Aquapainter and ink that I squished the lid of my ink pad to obtain. I saw a similar design on SCS and this is my take. So here is my first card using the Greeting Card Kid stamp set and my first Christmas card of the year.

Call or email me today if you need to have the set Greeting Card Kids come to stay in your home. Still need a catalog, contact me immediately, you won't regret it.

Another Secret Message Cards

These secret message cards are so easy to make and so much fun to watch the recipient figure out.
Try these quickie directions and see if you can make one.
Start with a half of a piece of cardstock cut long ways, 4 1/4" by 11".
Fold in half to make a standard card and then fold each end in on itself. You need to end up with a mountain fold in the middle and two valley folds on either end.

Take the mountain fold and cut to the fold line in the middle and then evenly on each side.

Two pieces of card stock go into these cuts like you are weaving in and out and then the opposite on the other side. Stamp these two pieces while in position.

Stamp and embellish the front but only glue the top focal piece onto the left hand side. When you are opening the card to get to the secret message you fold the middle and it will split allowing you to find the secret message, so cute and very addictive to make. I first saw this idea on Dawn Griffith's blog.

Happy 50th Birthday secret message card

My baby brother turns 50 this week and we are celebrating at his house today. I love a good 4th of July cookout. I made his birthday card this morning and wanted to incorporate 50 of something in there. So I stamped "happy" 50 times on the inside of the first and second panels. These Secret Message cards are so neat, they remind me of a Jacob's Ladder. I used the patriotic colors of Real Red and Brilliant Blue and the Circle Circus stamp set.

First Day of the New Catalog

The first day of anything can be exciting, but the first day of the new Stampin' Up! catalog, can't describe it, sorry, just can't. I have a bunch of Product Shares going on so I ordered those and a few customer orders and then a little bit for myself and Bazinga! $500 order on the nose. For those followers of certain SU! demos, I JANTINKED it!!! And I paid extra for 2nd Day shipping because the older I get the more impatient I get. To tell the truth I don't think I was ever very patient.

Wanna know what I picked for my 2 Level One Hostess Sets and my 1 Level 2 Hostess Sets? Since SU! rocks and already sent me Because I Care for free!, I ordered Birthday Bakery and Punch Potpourri, kinda like I am going in order thru the catalog. The Level 2 set I picked was Apple Blossoms, the stamp with the open circles intrigues me. Don't ask why because I don't know. I also got $60 dollars in free merchandise!!! Won't go into all of those details, let's just say my BIG box can't get here fast enough.

If you want to get in on any of the Product Shares just contact me. I always have shares going on so if you don't feel the need for 15 yards of ribbon in 6 different colors but would like to have 3 yards of each my Product Shares may be just what you are looking for.

I am going to go clean my Stampin' Sanctuary so it is all ready for new stuff! Would someone please alert the authorities if you don't hear from me in a couple of days?
Thanks and Happy Stampin'

New Cattys will be here tomorrow!!!

The new Stampin' Up! catalogs will be delivered here tomorrow just in time for our birthday lunch for a Technique Club member. The most awesome UPS driver in the world said he would try his best to get the package here before 11 so I can get them to the Technique Club members at lunch. What a fun lunch that will be! I made them all wish list bookmarks for their new catalogs. I think this is one of the best catalogs SU! has put out in recent history and my wish list is very very long. If you are in need of a catalog be sure and contact me to get one to you right away!

Happy Father's Day

My Dad is long gone and I miss him often. I always tease Bert that I am not getting him anything for Father's Day since he is not my Father. This year I relented and made him a card. I was blog surfing and came upon Dawn Griffith's blog and she inspired me to make this card, it is a CASE of hers right down to the silver brads. The front is brayered and has a lot of interesting lines and depths of color which do not show up in the photograph. Where is that photographer kid when I need her?

The base of the card is Chocolate Chip, layered in More Mustard and Whisper White. The WW layer is brayered in More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie with a little Bravo Burgundy around the edges for good measure. I used the 1 3/8" Circle Punch to make a mask for the sun. It has a little More Mustard sponged in to add a little texture. Silver Brads up the side, Inspired By Nature in Chocolate Chip and a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes and Bert is getting a card.

Happy Father's Day to all of the Dads out there.

Back in the saddle

I have been away from the blogging world for a while, actually a long while and for that I apologize. I have still been stampin' and holding classes and the Technique Club, just haven't had time for blogging. Here is a card I made recently that I really enjoyed making. It uses the Square Lattice Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up run thru the Big Shot.

I love snow and my Stampin' friends

Today I got two of my favorite things, a package from Stampin' Up! and snow! Since we live on a private road which doesn't get plowed, Owen, the best UPS guy on earth, didn't want to drive down the street and get stuck. So he called and we decided he could leave the package in a plastic bag on the mailboxes at the top of our street and I would go get the package later. I had to wear a pair of my husbands boots as I couldn't find mine. Suffice it to say we got a lot of snow out there but I got to the mailboxes and dragged the box back. I didn't get to walk my two miles today but I think I might have burned the same number of calories walking back and forth to the mailbox!

Hearts for Haitians

HAITIAN DISASTER RELIEF

On January 12, 2010 a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, leaving in its wake devastation so overwhelming that the Haitian people and their leaders can only look for help from the outside to cope. As Stampin′ Up! lovers, we can help make a difference in the lives of those who continue to suffer from the effects of this earthquake by purchasing the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set.

From now until February 28, 2010, $2 from every
I {Heart} Hearts stamp set sold will be donated to the American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.

Product Name Item # Price
I {Heart} Hearts – clear-mount (block D recommended) 118571 $18.95

This time is no different.

And I for one am proud to be a part of such a wonderful caring company. contact me today to purchase your set.

Valentine Bookmark

I made some more bookmarks using the 1 x 8 clear bags. I had to get 100 of them so I had best use them whenever the occasion arises!!! I love the eyelet border punch and the way it looks on both sides of the Whisper White insert. When the candy inside is gone the flap can be put back down and used as a bookmark. Want one ? They are for sale down at Passage Bookstore on Front St. in New Richmond. Tell Annette I sent you.

Technique Club tomorrow night

My favorite night of the month is coming up fast. Technique Club is the third Tuesday of each month. Six fantastic ladies come to my house and we learn a new technique and have a great time in each others company. This month is our 12th month, one year together. I swear it does not seem that long. I love spending time with these ladies and hope there are many more "Technique Nights" in our future.

This is the 3x3 card we will be making using the Reverse Applique Technique. Great way to use up scraps of ribbon. This ribbon is the Real Red 3/4" Polka Dot Grosgrain, I just used both sides. One side is polka dots and the other is plain but they both have stitching along the edge, very cute.

Happy Birthday Barb

One of my favorite stampin' ladies, Barb, is celebrating her birthday today. We are going out to eat lunch and I have a couple of surprises up my sleeve for her today. I made this card for her using Vintage Vogue, which is quickly becoming a favorite for me. I used the Sanding Technique for the background of this card. Dry emboss with the SU! Big Shot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Finial Press on Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. Then I used my SU! Sanding Blocks to lightly sand off the top of the embossed images. It leaves the white core showing and is so beautiful and easy too. Call or email me if you would like to learn how to do this on your cards.

Ribbon share

I am offering another ribbon share of the beautiful 5/8" Satin ribbons in the Occasion Mini. Nine gorgeous colors come in one yard increments, Bashful Blue, Basic Black, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Real Red, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Very Vanilla and Basic Gray. Each one more beautiful than the next and they tie like a dream. You can purchase one yard of each for $7.00, 2 yards of each for $14.00 or 3 yards of each for $21.00. I will be placing another order for these ribbons soon so get your spot saved in the next shipment.

The card on the top of these to die for ribbons uses the set in the Occasion Mini, I (Heart) Hearts, which I purchased in the clear mount and I can safely say it will be clear mounted stamps for me from here on out. The clear mount blocks fit perfectly in my fingers just like the wood mounted stamps used to fit. BUT, I can see exactly where to place each and every heart. So easy and a significant savings. This set, I (Heart) Hearts, is only $18.95 for a set of 8 stamps and fits into a case the size of a DVD. Call or email and come see them today.

Goodies coming today

Owen the best UPS guy on earth is bringing me some much awaited Stampin' Up! goodies today. Spent every last penny of my birthday and Christmas money and I can not wait till Owen gets here with the goods. I appreciate him so much I made him a card. There are so many punch people around made with the ornament punch that I had to try my hand at it. I think the person who inspired me the most was Ellen Kemper a very talented Stampin' Up! demonstrator who knows her way around a punch or two.
